Welcome to Alvesta
It's no surprise that the station building is often used to illustrate Alvesta. It has long been and still remains a classic railway junction. The south mainline crosses the coast to coast line here and many passengers have changed trains in Alvesta and waited to continue their journey, either to the continent, to the north or to the east or west coast. The magnificent station we see today was opened in 1909 and replaced an older timber station building that was close to the current site. The building is in the Art Nouveau style and was designed by the famous architect Folke Zettervall.
