Plan your journey

You can check routes but cannot buy tickets here.

Welcome to Alvesta

It's no surprise that the station building is often used to illustrate Alvesta. It has long been and still remains a classic railway junction. The south mainline crosses the coast to coast line here and many passengers have changed trains in Alvesta and waited to continue their journey, either to the continent, to the north or to the east or west coast. The magnificent station we see today was opened in 1909 and replaced an older timber station building that was close to the current site.  The building is in the Art Nouveau style and was designed by the famous architect Folke Zettervall.

Travel with Alfons

You can meet Alfie Atkins at the station and play for a bit. You can find him in the waiting room. You are welcome to drop in, even if you’re not about to take a train somewhere.

When the king came to Alvesta

On 8 July 1905, a large crowd gathered at the station to greet the newly married crown prince Gustaf Adolf and crown princess Margareta. The visit lasted all of eight minutes. Short but sweet.

Alvesta Exhibition Hall

There is an exhibition hall in the station that is managed by the municipality. The theme is local culture and art from the Alvesta area.
